Workforce Development and Computer Classes

The HMCPL has two workforce development centers, the Technology Training Center (TTC) at the Downtown Huntsville Library and the Workforce Development Lab at the North Huntsville Library. The Library is committed to increasing digital literacy in our community through one-on-one assistance and computer training classes and workshops.

You can schedule an appointment online at the North Huntsville Workforce Development Lab using our lab calendar.

Workforce Development

Training the workforce in Huntsville and Madison County, especially as we continue to see exponential growth in our community, is one of the library's priorities. We offer training in computer skills sought by local employers, free of charge. The workforce development lab is for those who need digital assistance to secure employment or job advancement.

The lab teaches skills such as:

  • how to create an email address

  • how to make a digital resume

  • how to conduct online job searches

  • how to complete online job applications.

Computer Classes

The library offers over 260 free computer classes each year, covering topics sought by local employers.

Spaces for classes are offered on a first come, first served basis.

Registration is on the 4th Tuesday of the month. You may register online. (Scroll to the bottom and look under 'Schedule')

All classes which are offered in a series must be taken in sequence from the beginning.

For any class with prerequisites, the prerequisites must have been completed within the 18 months previous to that class.
